From April 1-June 30, we hold some pre-season events, like try-it-outs (not try outs!), skills clinics, gear checks, and a family pizza party. Pre-season events are the perfect opportunity for interested and new athletes to try out the team to find out if it's a good fit, learn some basic skills, and get to know coaches and each other.
During our season, from July 1-October 31, we generally practice 3 days per week, except for race weeks when one practice is cancelled. One weekday practice is at local city park on a large grass field. These practices consist of:
Learn and practice essential mountain bike skills.
Play on the bike games - like soccer, zombie tag, limbo, and many more!
Ride a short course that reinforces skills and helps us work on our fitness and endurance.
Hold mock, fun "races" that reinforce team building and fitness.
On Saturdays we ride at a local mountain bike trail. All athletes are assigned to a ride group that they will generally stay with the entire season. Ride groups are based on age, skill, experience and fitness.
